Thank you for visiting our website. As you browse through the site you will find that we have a lot of things happening here at St. James. Although the website is a good way to get information about our community it’s really not a good way to get to know our community. For that you really have to walk in the doors and see for yourself, I know I did.
Dan Hull, Parish Director
So much has happened this past week with the disastrous earthquake in Haiti and the holiday commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that you probably didn’t realize it was the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. In past years we celebrated the week of Christian unity with pulpit exchanges, choir concerts and church open houses. This year we did it differently. Almost every congregation across our land, Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and non-denominational, lifted their prayers and opened their wallets to support our brothers and sisters in Haiti. The outcry of human suffering was so great that the things that normally keep us apart’ such as differences in theology and church structure, simply paled when compared to our solidarity as members of the human race. It is a graced experience to be a part of a unified Christian effort aimed at alleviating the great sorrows of our world. It is just sad that it takes such tragic events for us to see that there is more that we have in common than divides us. Perhaps it is fitting that were too busy acting as a unified Christian church to spend much time praying for Church Unity. J
